TWAS (The World Academy of Sciences) is an international organization that supports scientific research and collaboration in developing countries. It was founded in 1983 by a group of distinguished scientists under the leadership of Abdus Salam, a Nobel Prize-winning physicist. TWAS is based in Trieste, Italy, and operates under the umbrella of UNESCO. TWAS aims to: TWAS has a prestigious membership of over 1,000 scientists from around the world, including many Nobel laureates. It also runs several fellowship programs in collaboration with institutions in China, India, Brazil, and other countries. Jaqueline Mesquita, Universidad de Brasilia: General concept of periodicity for any time scales In this talk, we will present a general concept of periodicity for any time scales and some applications. POSTER In 2018, Mesquita was elected as a Young Affiliate Member of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) for the period 2018–2022.This affiliation recognizes her contributions to mathematics and her potential to advance scientific excellence in developing countries. Beyond her affiliation, Mesquita has actively participated in TWAS initiatives. She served on the organizing committee for the TWAS Young Affiliates Network Thematic Workshop in Mathematics and 1st Advanced School in Mathematics, held at the University of São Paulo in November 2022. Additionally, she delivered a plenary talk titled "Brief introduction to functional differential equations, dynamic equations on time scales and generalized ODEs" during this event. In recognition of her outstanding contributions to mathematics, Mesquita received the "Science, She Says!" award from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in 2023. She was also elected President of the Brazilian Mathematical Society in the same year. Mesquita's involvement with TWAS underscores her commitment to advancing scientific research and collaboration in developing countries.Mission & Activities
